Umina Beach sits on the sand flats of the Woy Woy Peninsula, between the West Street shops and one long, unbroken beach that locals split into Umina Beach at the south-western end and Ocean Beach to the north-east. It’s level ground laid out in a grid, and the houses on it have changed a lot. Original single-storey cottages now share streets with two-storey rebuilds and duplexes.
That mix creates two problems we see on almost every Umina Beach job. On a flat block there’s usually little between the back of the house and the afternoon sun, so west-facing living rooms and bedrooms heat up. And with duplexes and new builds going up next door, side windows that once looked at a fence now look into someone’s kitchen. Adek Blinds & Curtains sorts both from our Kincumber base, and we plan each window around whichever problem it has.
Our sample box can stay at your place overnight, so you can hold the fabrics up to the west windows late in the afternoon and decide from there.
Umina Beach homes often need different blinds from room to room. West-facing living areas need heat and glare control, street-facing rooms need daytime privacy, and bedrooms need to stay dark. We match each blind type to the window it is going on.
Sunscreen roller blinds reduce heat and glare in west-facing living areas while keeping the view of the yard. Blockout rollers suit bedrooms, and dual rollers combine both on one bracket for rooms needing day and night options.
Vertical blinds suit the wide sliding doors common in renovated Umina Beach homes. The vanes tilt to control the afternoon sun and draw fully aside when the door is in use.
Panel blinds cover the large glass doors and wide windows found in new builds and rear extensions. The fabric panels slide across on a track and stack neatly to one side when open.
Zebra blinds use alternating sheer and solid bands to adjust light and privacy without raising the blind, which suits front rooms facing the street.
Roman blinds fold up in soft fabric layers and suit the smaller windows found in original Umina Beach cottages, as well as bedrooms and sitting rooms.
Venetian slats tilt to let light in while blocking the view from outside, a practical option for side windows close to neighbouring homes.
Curtains help manage afternoon heat, street privacy and winter warmth. A sheer by day with a blockout for night covers most Umina Beach living rooms on one double track.
Sheer curtains filter strong afternoon light and give daytime privacy from the street while keeping rooms bright. They do not provide privacy at night on their own, so we usually pair them with blockouts.
S-fold curtains hang in even, rippled folds and stack neatly beside the wide windows and sliding doors in newer Umina Beach homes.
Lined blockout curtains darken bedrooms, reduce afternoon heat in west-facing rooms and help hold warmth in through winter.
Shutters and awnings handle sun control from both sides of the glass. Shutters manage light and privacy inside, while awnings stop heat before it reaches west-facing windows.
Plantation shutters give adjustable light and privacy control with a fixed, durable finish that suits street-facing rooms, renovated cottages and new two-storey homes in Umina Beach.
Outdoor awnings shade decks, patios and west-facing glass, reducing heat inside the house and making outdoor areas more usable through summer afternoons in Umina Beach.
Bryn quotes the job, measures every window and installs it himself. Nothing gets lost between the person who took the measurements and the person on the ladder.
We've been fitting blinds and curtains on the Central Coast since 1986, and a fair bit of our work is for customers we first met years ago.
We supply Hunter Douglas, Luxaflex, Silhouette, Silent Gliss, Verosol and Somfy among others, and we'll tell you which suits each window rather than pushing one line.
Tree cover, water glare and raised living areas all change the brief. We recommend fabrics after seeing the room, not from a catalogue.
Every opening is measured on site, older and odd-sized ones included, so the finished product sits neatly in the reveal.
You get a clear, written quote. No inflated sale pricing, no pressure to sign on the day, and no follow-up calls you didn't ask for.
We supply and install blinds, curtains, shutters and awnings throughout Umina Beach, from homes near Ocean Beach Road to the streets around West Street, and across the Woy Woy Peninsula, including Ettalong Beach and Booker Bay. Indoor and outdoor work, such as blinds and a deck awning, can be quoted together.
To see fabrics and operating styles in person before your measure, you can visit our showroom at 10d Bilinga Road, Kincumber, by appointment. Measures and installations are available on weekdays and Saturdays, and enquiries receive a reply within 24 hours.
Bryn comes to your house, measures each window and talks through options for light, privacy and view. You get a written price, free.
Your blinds or curtains are made to the measurements taken on site, in the fabrics and fittings you chose from the samples.
We install everything, check each blind and curtain operates smoothly, take the old ones away and leave the rooms clean.
One visit to measure and quote, one visit to install, and a clear written price in between. No pressure to decide on the day.
Sunscreen roller blinds reduce heat and glare while keeping the room bright. Adding lined blockout curtains or an outdoor awning gives more heat control on the hottest summer afternoons.
Venetian blinds, plantation shutters and zebra blinds all block the direct view while letting daylight in. The best option depends on the window size and how close the neighbouring building is.
Roman blinds and cassette roller blinds both fit neatly into smaller, older reveals. Because every window is measured on site, non-standard sizes are not a problem.
Book once the windows and doors are installed and the frames are final, as we measure the actual openings. Fabrics and styles can be chosen earlier so you are ready to order.
Vertical blinds, panel blinds and S-fold curtains all suit wide sliding doors. Panels and S-folds stack to one side, leaving the full opening clear when needed.
