Honeycomb blinds (also called cellular blinds) are the most thermally efficient soft window furnishing made. The fabric pleats into hexagonal cells that trap a layer of air between the room and the glass, slowing the heat moving in or out by a meaningful margin.

Yes — measurably, when they’re fitted properly. The cells trap a layer of air at the window, which slows heat moving through the glass in either direction. Independent testing on Luxaflex Duette shows R-value improvements of around 2× over a bare window. The catch: they only deliver those numbers when fitted into the window reveal, not face-mounted onto the architrave. We always fit into the reveal.
Very good — particularly with a double-cell blockout fabric. They cut light, hold heat overnight in winter, and keep the room cooler on summer mornings when the sun comes up at 5:30. The fabric is also softer-feeling than a roller blockout — it sits closer to a curtain in look without the bulk.
Yes — that’s what top-down/bottom-up gives you. You pull the blind down from the top to let daylight in across the upper half of the window while the lower half stays closed for privacy. You can also use a day/night dual-cell setup with a light-filtering fabric on one rail and a blockout on the other. Bryn will walk you through which one suits your room.
The Luxaflex Duette range comes in over 100 fabric colours and a few different cell sizes. We bring samples to your place and hold them against the wall and the light at every time of day. Most customers take samples home for a week before deciding — we’d rather you got it right than fast.
All of the Central Coast — from Gosford and Erina across to Avoca, Terrigal, Wamberal, Forresters Beach, Killcare and Kincumber, and as far north as The Entrance and Bateau Bay. Our showroom is at 10d Bilinga Road, Kincumber. If you’re inside that footprint, Bryn can usually be at your place within the week for a measure.
It depends on the cell size, the fabric, the operating system (cordless, top-down/bottom-up or motorised) and the window size. Bryn will measure on the day and email the quote within 24 hours so you can sit with the number and decide in your own time.
Worth it for high windows, hard-to-reach reveals, and rooms where you’d run them up and down a lot anyway (kitchens, north-facing living rooms). We use Somfy — battery or hardwired — and we’ve been installing motorised window furnishings since long before it was an app on your phone. If a manual cordless cellular blind would do the job fine, we’ll tell you.
From measure to install, generally three to six weeks depending on the fabric and the supplier’s lead time. Standard Duette colours are at the shorter end. Custom widths or specialty fabrics push it out. Bryn will give you the specific lead time in writing with your quote.
