Sheers live or die on the track. Curved bays, ceiling-recessed tracks, twin tracks for a sheer and a blockout, motorisation where the window is too tall to reach. Bryn will spec what your window actually needs.
Bryn brings the sample box to your house. You keep the fabrics, sit with them in the room for a week, and decide when you're ready. Nobody will chase you.
Most of our sheer work is in the coastal streets, where the windows are big and the light is the reason people bought the house. Terrigal, Avoca Beach, Copacabana, Macmasters Beach, Wamberal, Killcare and St Hubert’s Island all throw up the same problem in different shapes.
We also fit plenty of sheers well away from the water, in Erina, Gosford, East Gosford, Kincumber and Wyoming, where the driver is usually daytime privacy on a street-facing front room rather than glare off the ocean.

Yes. With your interior lights on and darkness outside, sheers will not give you privacy. People outside will see shapes and movement, and with a lighter fabric they’ll see more than that. This is why we usually pair sheers with a blockout curtain or a blockout roller blind on a second track.
Sheers filter light and give daytime privacy while you can still see out. Blockouts stop light and give full privacy at any hour. Most homes need both, in different rooms or on the same window.
Yes, and it’s the most common set-up we install. The sheer goes on the front track, the blockout on the track behind it. You use the sheer during the day and pull the blockout across at night.
S-fold (also called wave fold or ripple fold) is a heading style where the fabric hangs in even, continuous waves rather than pinched pleats. It’s the contemporary look most people are after in new builds and renovations. More on S-fold curtains here.
They help with both, particularly glare. A sheer over glass will noticeably cut the harshness of afternoon sun and slow the heat build-up in the room. For a bad western aspect on a big window, we’d usually recommend pairing the sheer with something on the outside of the glass as well.
Ask for a fabric with a good UV rating and expect to pay for it. Coastal light is brutal on lightweight fabric, and a cheap sheer on a north or west-facing window will go brittle and lose colour faster than you’d expect. Bryn will point you at the weights and weaves that survive it.
Yes. Motorised tracks make sense where the window is too tall to reach comfortably, where the curtains run a long span, or where you want them on a timer. We use Somfy motorisation. Bryn will tell you honestly whether it’s worth it for your window.
Most sheers can be gently hand-washed or machine-washed cold on a delicate cycle, then hung damp back on the track so they drop out flat. Don’t wring them and don’t put them in the dryer. Check the fabric care label first, and ask us if you’re unsure about yours.
Yes. Bryn brings the sample box to your house so you can see the fabrics in your own light, against your own walls. Take your time. Most people live with a couple of options for a week before they commit.
